HOT DIGGITY DOGGY!!!!!
SLEEEEEPOOOOOVEEEEER!!!
PLEASE READ THIS FIRST:
In celebration of our new, bigger location and in an effort to spread the word, for a limited time, we are making an exception to our overnight boarding program. Our goal is to still create as safe and as comfortable of an environment as possible. Here’s what’s temporarily changed:
Prior to each boarding stay, after passing our temperament test, each new dog will be asked to do the following before officially qualifying for an overnight stay:
1. Attend daycare 6 days before the stay within 2 weeks before the overnight stay
2. Spend one test night with us (after at least 3 successful days of daycare).
If everything goes well with the daycare visits and test night, your dog, or dogs, will be officially passed for overnight boarding.
Overnight boarding is very stressful for new dogs, especially because they don’t consistently socialize with us and because they aren’t used to being away from their home and family. The visits prior to the stay, as well as the test night, will help a great deal with the comfort and understanding of each new, non-regular attending pup, as well as the overall comfort of the entire pack. We care about the dogs comfort and safety a great deal here at Diggity Doggy. A more comfortable pack equates to safer and happier pack, and this is why we are set up the way that we are.
We understand the concern that the possibility of new and/or unresolved issues may arise during the test days and test night following the temperament test, which may lead to a cancelled stay, but while there is still that potential risk, it is very uncommon that this occurs once a dog has passed our temperament test. We also take our time during each pick up report to explain all potential problems that we notice, as well as any risks we think are present with the possibility of cancelling the stay.
(This paragraph currently does not apply and is still listed for informational purposes only, so new customers know how our overnight boarding program is typically set up and how it will be set up once again after the limited time offer, listed within the previous paragraphs, expires) All of our overnight boarding dogs are dogs that already attend regular/weekly daycare or plan to attend regular/weekly daycare before and after their first overnight stay (see enrollment page for details). This greatly increases the safety of the pack and ensures that all of the dogs get along better overall. When new dogs join the pack, the goal is that they don’t forget what they learned and that they become part of the pack family. Every time a dog needs to readjust after a long break from the pack, it is usually stressful for that dog and the others. It is also more likely that the dog coming back has developed separation anxiety, assuming he/she didn’t have it already, because he/she didn’t socialize away from home and family on a consistent basis. Both of these issues lead to safety and comfortability concerns and that is mainly what we are trying to avoid to the best of our ability in order to protect all that are involved and provide a more enjoyable experience for everyone. Morning drop off also helps with safety as evening drop offs make the dogs that have been there all day tense and worked up.

DOG BOARDING DE”TAILS”:
Cage-Free Dog Boarding:
Cage-free dog boarding is an often misunderstood phrase. It’s a service where the dogs socialize, play, roam, and lay around inside and outside during daycare hours and then during sleeping/eating time, they are individually kenneled/crated for safety reasons. If you have more than one dog, they can be kenneled together as long as they always get along, we have an extra large kennel available, and we have written permission to do so.
Relaxing Sleep Environment:
Our goal is to provide a quiet and peaceful sleep experience for all of our sleepover guests. Typically, you can hear a pin drop and all the dogs are resting quietly and calmly. All the dogs that stay with us are kennel/crate trained and/or are very comfortable in their sleeping space. Kennel/Crate anxiety (whining, barking, trying to break out, not able to relax/lay down, pacing, etc.) only creates a stressful experience for all the dogs. While we wish we could board every dog we meet, but we wouldn’t be able to have this type of environment to provide if we did.
A Typical Diggity Doggy Boarding Weekday:
6:45 am: Rise and shine! Time to go potty, say hi, and stretch the legs!
7 am: Breakfast (most prefer breakfast at lunch/nap time due to excitement)
8 am – 1:00 pm: Play/Socialization time (see daycare tab for play/socialization details). For those that don’t eat breakfast, their play/socialization time begins at 7 am as they don’t need time for their food to settle in order to avoid bloating, vomiting, feeling uncomfortable, etc.
1:00 pm: Nap, lunch/treat time
3:00 pm – 6:00 pm: Socialization/Play time resumes (see daycare tab for play/socialization details)
6:00 pm: Dinner
Sometime between 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm: 20 minute to 2 hour late-night break (depending on staff member, staff member schedule, and group behavior for the night) to go potty, stretch legs, and get some lovin’!
Sometime between 7:20 pm – 10:20 pm: Treat/Sleep time begins (follows late-night break)
Weekends and Holidays: We provide cage free time on weekends and all holidays for all of the dogs that are boarding with us. We make sure to average 6-10 hours cage-free time on these days (days dogs get dropped off/picked up may be shorter). We are sometimes a bit more loose and flexible with the schedule on these days, too. Typically, cage free hours for our boarding dogs are between 9 am to 6 pm on weekends and holidays, but sometimes the time frame is wider (depending on which staff members are covering).
What to Bring for Boarding:
➨ Food (dog food your dog is used to in order to avoid diarrhea and accidents overnight and preferably in baggies measured per meal)
➨ Treats (treats that your dog is used to in order to avoid diarrhea and accidents overnight)
➨ Medicines (we will provide medicines as long as your dog allows it without getting aggressive or too uncomfortable; we do not force medications)
➨ Dog beds and/or blankets are welcome (if your dog doesn’t chew/destroy them)
